For the power supply, the Demo Kit supplies a 9 volt power supply integrated into the RS232 cable. An adaptor can be made by using a male and female DB-9 connectors with all the wires going pin for pin and adding the power supply negative to pin 5 and the positive to pin 9

You may wire this into your adaptor making sure the positive lead goes to pin 9 and the negative lead to pin 5. Then you can plug and unplug the power supply and it could be useful for other things.
