How to detect forged and counterfeit on pcb circuit

How to find original pcb layout from a discontinued dish network receiver by it’s sch, pch, pwa numbers with pcb vender name? I think I also have the pcb serial number near pcb vendor name but not entirely sure. I also have pcb vender logo from dishpro multiswitch but couldn’t find logo name by reverse image. Here’s the file for the pcb vender multiswitch and pcb vender for receiver 301.

Hello,

Welcome to the TechForum.

We wouldn’t be able to locate those pcb boards already populated to offer. We have the parts mounted to that board and can most likely offer the individual parts on this board to fix but would need those parts parameters.

I don’t believe these pcb’s would available other than 2nd hand online.

Hopefully next time we will have exactly what you need.

Thank you
Ryan

I mean how do I search these numbers to find out the pcb board is original and not forged. I have the pcb board and it’s components but I just want to detect counterfeit and forged on the product.

For how to tell they are counterfeit, the part may have the same markings as original parts, but they may not function electrically.

Sometimes finding a schematic is difficult because manufacturers want to limit how much information is available to deter counterfeit products. And companies will have revisions of the boards that will sometimes change what information is on the solder mask layer.

I noticed that you said these were discontinued receivers. This makes testing them harder because they are probably no longer supported and will not be able to descramble the signal anymore.

Thank you and how can you know if it’s forged and is there anything I can do further with these info. Its to framework.

With a PCB that is fully populated and without knowing how it should look and what components to test, it will be impossible.

Sorry I mean I already physically have it I just need to know how to tell if it is not forged

As I already said, if you don’t know what to look for, it will or may be impossible to know if it is forged. If the part is a used part, there should not be an issue with it being a genuine part.

If you still have question on it being a genuine part, try looking for a forum that is dedicated to using old dish network hardware.

I found this forum and they might have more insight.

I’ve been to that forum those people were disrespectful and not sure if url prospector can help out i have its ul number that starts with E along with numbers

I’ think the people who know how to spot a counterfeit product do not answer questions like this, as it only helps the actors who are developing counterfeit products.

Try obtaining a genuine unit and compare the microchip markings etc.

That’s the problem. Obtaining a genuine one will be hard because I’ve seen electronic devices that may seem to have original pcb circuit while it is not. Counterfeit dish network equipment is dangerous to use. I have the equipment physically i just need to detect forged activity on the pcb board.

Well, honestly, I do not see any danger there, apart from lost revenue for OEM, and perhaps some EMC and mains related issues. If your counterfeit equipment does not show the channels, I would say, it is not a dangerous issue, rather a salvation.

Cheers, heke

What do I need to do to detect forged activity on the pcb circuit not counterfeit activity? steven_14444 already explained what I need to do to detect counterfeit just need to detect forged activity on the circuit.

These are the same concept.

As an end user, buying a product through a reputable, manufacturer-approved sales channel is the way to be assured that you are getting a genuine product.

What tools and online sources do I need to detect counterfeit and forged activity on the circuit? How can you look up official pcb layout of any electronic product?

Try only purchasing products from authorized resellers. And, OEM’s dont typically share the PCB layout for their products.

What license or alternatives to convince the oem to send me the pcb layout

You would need to contact the original manufacturer for anymore information.
