Installing a 10 Pin Connector

I’m replacing a 10 Pin connector on my EzGo golf cart. I’ve identified Part # 4-640427-0 as the connector that I need. I’m unaware if the wire is just pushed into this connector or if I need to crimp the wire to something & then insert it into this connector. If I need additional products to install the wire into this connector can you please provide part#'s that I would need. I am aware that there is a protective dust cover that is recommended.

Hi @touchy98 and welcome to the forum! Looking into this part it is an IDC connector, meaning that crimps are not necessary to terminate wires to the terminals in the housings. The wires are simply pressed in as you supposed, and wedged into the IDC blades inside the connector.

TE offers a hand tool to make this easier, part number A9981-ND in our site, but it’s not strictly necessary to get the wires in. If you were building multiple assemblies I’d definitely recommend it but for a one-off replacement job I don’t believe it’s necessary.

Thank you Chris for your prompt & informative response!
