I’m looking for an interface device to provide the simplest and most accurate way to announce the height, in feet, above ground to ground level from a platform such as an airplane. The measurement device would be the Lightware SF30/D LIDAR. I would be utilizing its serial output as the voltage feeding this interface device. The interface device would have to meet the following parameters: (1) Output would have to be a female voice stating feet above ground or “touchdown “. (2) Output should be adequate to drive an 8 ohm speaker, providing up to 5watts of adjustable power. (3) The height range would be from 0 to100 feet AGL. (4) Compact in design and self contained

Note that text-to-speech devices such as 3256-TTS-ENC1-ND are also available. It’s probable that an intermediate device capable of translating the serial output of the sensor into a suitable text string, but the speech synthesis part is taken care of.
