Looking for a thermistor replacement

Hi

I am trying to find an NTC thermistor replacement. The original is from a Polk Audio PSW1000 subwoofer.

The schematic description is:

SL154R00A 3W 15% KS0021

The package is a 25mm green disc marked DSP 056

I think it is a current-limiting thermistor

Any ideas?

Cheers

Al

Hello @al12,

Thank you for your post.

I found a few places online that mentioned the parameters, but I do not see that we carry that exact part number.

We do have one that is really close in multiple ratings.

I would suggest taking a look at our number 4316-5D2-18LC-ND.

Thanks, Brent!

I ordered one. It should work fine.

Cheers

Al

If that is true, then the part is more likely PTC.

PTC lowers current (higher R) with temperature rise, NTC raises current (lower R) with temperature rise.

It seems likely that the use case here is for inrush limiting, rather than overcurrent protection. In which case, the NTC action does indeed fit the bill.
