Finding the correct installation torque for certain connectors can be surprisingly difficult. Tightening torque can be difficult to find depending on the part number, especially since this is not a filter for most connectors on our site.
Why is the information missing?
The information may not be immediately available depending on where you look. Some manufacturers include their installation process in the drawing datasheets. Some product series datasheets cover multiple part number details. Other manufacturers have made separate documents for drawings and installation instructions. On a rare occasion, some suppliers leave out some of those pieces of information they do not find relevant for most applications.
Where is the information for this connector?
For DigiKey part number 952-3955-5-ND, the information s in a document available on the product display page. The document is called M80, M83 Series Spec Sheet on the product display page under “Design Resources.” Page 13 contains the relevant information. The recommended tightening torque is 21 ± 2cmN. For mating connectors, they also recommend not to exceed 23cmN.
