Today DigiKey chose to waste some of my time by having products listed on the site that they don’t ship. I only noticed this as I was about to buy and saw that there would be an additional shipping charge. So I read up about marketplace. I’m very dissappointed a reputable, focussed supplier like DigiKey has gone down the road of competing with the trash sites. Your value is in having one consistent experience, by polluting your product pool with third party products that is damaged.
Hello @aaronclawrence,
Thank you for the feedback.
Marketplace expands source flexibility, mitigates risk, and injects a measure of competition.
Let’s demonstrate using the '3904 BJT in a SOT 23-3 package.
Currently, there are 46 unique line items with parts in stock:
-
10 marketplace
-
14 tariffed products
-
24 either marketplace of tariffed
-
22 neither marketplace nor tariffed
Most are clustered about $0.15 +/- $0.05 (quantity 1) dropping to $0.04 +/- $0.02 at 1k plus quantity.
From a logistics perspective, you must balance, availability, project suitability, cost, shipping charges, and country of origin. Marketplace expands those options.
Are there are times when the added shipping charge is justified against other factors?
Sincerely,
APDahlen
P.S. To search for transistors closely related to the 2N3904, search keywords “3904 BJT”.
