Measuring Capacitance

What is the best Multimeter to measure the capacitance of the capacitor. Because when i measure even with the Milwaukee multimeter for some capacitors it is showing OL means over load.

@gsudheer809

What model of meter do you have?
Would you have an idea of the nominal value of capacitance that you are looking to measure?

Milwaukee TRMS multimeter

Capacitor are with different voltage and capacitance like

35v 1200 µF
50v 1500 µF
25v 10000 µF

Per the user manual for milwaukee P/N 2217-20 the maximum capacitance the device can measure is 1000uF. This is less than any of the values mentioned above, which is why one would get an over-range reading when attempting to meeasure them with the unit in question.

A variety of measurement devices aimed specifically at component testing can be seen here, and there are also a variety of other general-purpose multimeters available with a capacitance function. Whatever device you choose, check the documentation before purpose to ensure that the device’s measurement range is sufficient for your needs.

i just want to know weather this multumter can measure more than 1000 microF

If you frequently work with capacitors of varying sizes, a dedicated LCR meter will be better. You can choose from DER EE DE-5000, Keysight U1733C or Extech 380193. You can also make a capacitance meter by yourself using some regular components. How to make simplest possible autorange Capacitance meter - Share Project - PCBWay

According to the datasheet for the Fluke 17B+, it’s maximum measurable capacitance is also 1000uF.

Thank you for the information.

If you are looking for a more competitively priced option, perhaps the B&K Precision BK2709B-ND is worth considering. It can measure up to 66,000uF.
