I’m looking to replace a Meder “MK04-BV15103 C 3/8” that is used in a Miele DGC 5085 XL to sense a floater for determining if a water holder is full. I can’t find a suitable replacement online/ Could you guide me on a suitable replacement?
Current listings from the MK04 series can be found here. Since the number given doesn’t appear to match the format for standard product listings it’s possible that the item is a non-catalog/custom device of some sort.
Main considerations for picking a good-enough alternative would be compatible size/shape, proper contact form, and then a suitable sensitivity. Without a concrete explanation of the part number it’s tough to suggest anything with high confidence, but I’ll guess you’ve got form B contacts. (form C devices would have 3 wires…)
The broader product family containing devices of type has very similar offerings from other suppliers, if one would care to look more broadly.
Assuming it’s possible to do so safely, observing what the machine does as the switch leads are opened/closed by another means should indicate this quite directly. The “normal” state is the state of the switch when a magnet is NOT present.
If it does the same thing regardless of whether the leads are open or closed, that would suggest that either A) there’s some additional logic somewhere that’s interfering with things, or B) the switch isn’t the (sole) cause of the problem.
