Microchip MCUs: MUI (Microchip Unique Identifier) Availability?

Some Microchip products, such as PIC16F18044T-I/SS, ship with what the company calls a Microchip Unique Identifier, or MUI. This identifier is baked onto the IC and cannot be changed or user-deleted, and allows both Microchip and the end user to track the device for a few different applications. A question we receive at times concerning these devices is a request for us to supplier this MUI to the customer. Is this possible?

Unfortunately, DigiKey cannot supply these numbers for you. They exist only on the actual IC itself, not in any documentation issued for or surrounding the MCU. For information on how to pull this identifier off your ICs, please check Microchip’s page on MUIs, here: 9.2.1 Microchip Unique Identifier (MUI).
