Phoenix Contact is usually known for their interconnect products and wide range of terminal blocks, but they also have a range of uninterruptible power supply products. One of these products is 1274117, a battery pack for their QUINT line of UPS products. We’ve had some questions recently concerning this device shipping with disconnected cables and whether this is a quality issue?
Per the product manual, here: Product Manual (4.2 MB), this is normal and expected. The negative DC cable, 1- and the DC fuse both ship disconnected as a safety consideration to avoid self discharge. The batteries are not plug-and-play out of the box, there is a set-up process recommended by the manufacturer which includes multiple-hour trickle charging to help condition the batteries. Please reference the provided manual for further information.
