Some Parts that come on Tape and Reel will have an extra piece attached to the part.
This is called a Pick and Place Pad.
These are attached to the part and are done by the manufacturer. These are used so the Suction Cup or Vacuum Tool on a Pick and Place machine can lift the part from the Tape carrier and place it on the circuit board. After the part is placed on the board the pad can be removed.
These are usually not sold separate. If the part does not come with the pad a flat side of the part can be used to suction to.
