Hello Everyone,
The page 1 from the datasheet says that,
Hold Current (IH) - Maximum current at which the device will not trip.
Trip Current (IT) - Minimum current at which the device will always trip.
So, as per the datasheet, IH is 4A and IT is 8A. How the component will work between the hold current (4A) and trip current (8A) states?. Is the component will trip between 4A and 8A?. (OR) Is the component will allow the current which is between the 4A and 8A without trip the component?.
The Hold and trip currents are explained on that page also.
IH Hold Current = Maximum current at which the device will not trip in still air at 23C
IT Trip Current = Minimum current at which the device will always trip in still air at 23C.
It also has these devices have been calibrated to limit the current to 8A within 5 seconds.
So if the current stays at 4A, it will trip in about 24 seconds. It the current hits 8A, it will trip within 5 seconds.
It will allow current between 4A - 8A, but the higher the current, the quicker the part will open the circuit.
