SRA Soldering Products offers a variety of products beyond soldering, including their KA3305D test bench power supply. Recently we’ve received a number of questions on how to switch this device from Constant Voltage mode to Constant Current or back again; how does this product do so?
The product’s Instruction Manual offers some guidance. We’ve also got the following advice from SRA directly:
The KA3005P should go into constant current mode automatically when a load is connected. However, it will only enter CC mode when the load is drawing more current than what you set the PSU to provide. If the load is drawing less current than set, it will operate in CV mode. You can’t have both CV and CC at the same time because of Ohm’s Law. You must lower the current setting until it enters CC mode.
