TE Connectivity is one of the most prolific connector manufacturers in the world; their offerings include the stacked Ethernet/USB jack part number 6116151-1. When searching for this however, you may run across older, obsolete variations such as 6116151-2 or 6116151-4. What do these varying suffixes mean? Are these parts all interchangeable?
The -1, -2, and -4 all call out which, if any, LED indicators exist within the device. The basic -1 model has no LED indicators; -2 has a green and yellow indicator, while -4 has two green indicators. The parts are not strictly interchangeable, as -1 does not have the additional pins that -2 and -4 have to drive their LEDs. If you’re looking for the older -2 or -4 parts, you will need to look into a different alternative as the -1 variation will not drop in for you.
