What is a PTC Resettable Fuse?

A PTC Resettable Fuse is an electronic component that is used to prevent too much current in a circuit. They are a good alternative in limiting current that will give your circuits the protection it needs.

The PTC Resettable Fuse has a rise in temperature from the flow of the circuit and will increase the resistance. It limits an increased current level while allowing a safe amount of current. The resistance level will go back to its original state once the temperature is back to normal.

A few places of where these fuses can be located:

Consumer Electronics: mobile phones and protection on solenoids

Medical Equipment: current/voltage input applications

Computers: Hard drives and USBs
