Hello @Zman,

As I understand, you are looking for a complimentary (NPN PNP) pair substitution for the 2SC2482. These are high voltage transistors in a long style TO-92 package.

Recommend you use NTE components as described in this video I constructed before joining the DigiKey team:

The NPN 2SC2482 crosses to an NTE 399. The complimentary PNP is the NTE2366. Unfortunately, this component is out of stock, you may need to seek other suppliers.

On a related note, here are the related DigiKey transistors.

Best wishes,

APDahlen

P.S. If you relax the case requirements you may be able to use the KSA1381ESTU. Be sure to verify the pinout.

Does it need tk be pnp or can j use npn?

Hello @Zman,

Apologies, I may have misunderstood your request.

Please clarify:

  1. What part(s) are you looking for?

Sincerely,

Aaron

2SC2482 pnp

Sorry, @Zman,

The 2SC2482 is a NPN transistor.

Are you looking for the PNP compliment to the 2SC2482. For our readers, the term compliment implies a PNP / NPN pair that share the same characteristics.

Sincerely,

Aaron

Im thinking as long as the emiter a s collector have same tollerances im fine the video ive watched shows hin test it pnp and the machine these 2sc2482 came out of are shorted. And what the manual calls for maybe ill install the npn ones see what happens . I mean the manual calls for them

Hi @Zman,

Please be careful, this wouldn’t be the first time the documentation was incorrect. Some people have even encountered PCB marking that were inaccurate. For example, backwards PCB marking for electrolytic capacitors.

As a rule of thumb, I would trust the marking on the components. If you physically removed a 2SC2482, there is a very high probability that that is indeed the part number.

Please let us know if you were successful in repairing your equipment.

Sincerely,

Aaron

P.S. Perhaps you could reach out to the person(s) who produced the video. They may have specialized knowledge to assist you.
