Axial Reverse Schottky Diode for power circuit protection

Hello,

I am looking for help with opting-out proper Diode for protection of the circuit below.

The circuit is used to power supply the Fridge from 2 power sources (AC/DC 24VDC converter, and 12VDC Battery power) on boat. I need an Axial Schottky Diode that can indefinitely handle current passing through without cooling, and withstand reverse voltage. Inrush current spike could quite high and up to 15Amp on 12VDC power, so I was thinking of 30-40Amp diode.

My main concern is overheating of the diode which can lead to failure which I have seen before.

Could someone please assist with my request?

Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello Tech-01,

Would you be looking for one of the Schottky diodes linked HERE?

Hi, thank you for the link. I see only ANBON diodes are available at the moment. This one seems the most suitable for the purpose.

I haven’t been working with diodes much, and would like to clarify the following questions if possible:

  • datasheet says that operating temperature between -55 and +200C, and I wonder what would be normal temperature at 5-6Amp forward current?
  • is there a way to eliminate leakage current fro diode?
  • if both 12VDC and 24VDC present simultaneously, will 24VDC close diode on 12VDC side or opposite?

Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:
