I need to replace this male connector. Its part of a project where I am coverting my old HP envy 23 display into a massive Tablet. The specs are as follows.
- 4 pin
- 1mm pitch
- 5mm x 1.5mm housing (not including the clips on the sides) (very thin)
- Clips on the sides to hold it in
Please see the photos.
THANKS!
Hello,
I could not identify this one.
Are there any numbers or markings on the part?
There is/was a label down the side of the female connector. I couldn’t read it or get it off with a .5mm blade.
From what I can see online I think it is backlight power for the panel.
It is at least 13 years old. Maybe the clips on the side are custom for this panel. The main housing is 1.5mm by 5mm.
I am sorry it is 1.25mm pitch, not 1mm.
If it helps this is the panel.
Unfortunately this will not help with identifying this connector.
I found this: 184.105.99.68 - Please verify yourself to continue
So the female connector is a Molex 104086-0410. Linked here: https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/molex/1040860410/5116601

Awesome…
I may just be stupid, but what is the male connector called? I can only find the female.
THANKS!
A few key points that apply in general:
- The connector in question is filed under “Rectangular Connectors.” It stands to reason that its mate would be also.
- The gender of a connector is typically reckoned in reference to the form of the actual electrical contacts, rather than any shrouding or such that may surround them.
- Various connector flavors commonly have subdivisions of “Assemblies” having captive contacts, “Housings” for with electrical contacts are sold separately, and “Contacts” that are used together with “housings”.
- A common pattern would be for the mate to a board-mounted “header” to consist of a similar “housing” plus the associated “contacts”
More specifically to this instance, Molex is notorious for adding numbers that over-specify its product series designations, so simply clicking the “series” link from the detail page won’t do much good. A search for “illumimate” however surfaces a number of results from the rectangular connector housing family. Clicking into those and selecting a pin count and pitch matching the reference part leads one to housing P/N 1040850400, which unfortunately is not available from DK in small quantities at the present time.

Thanks Rick!
Are the correct terminals Molex 104521-6001?
After checking Molex’s website, it looks like the socket contact for this is part 1045058003
