CIT Relay Switches: Shorting vs. Non-Shorting?

CIT Relay and Switch offers quite a wide selection of electromechanical switches, as one might infer from their name. When looking at their switch offerings, occasionally customers will ask us how they can tell whether a given switch is shorting (i.e. make-before-break) or non-shorting (break-before-make). They cannot find such options in CIT’s part numbering and wonder where these options are. How can you tell which type of switch you’re getting from this supplier?

The answer is quite simple - CIT does not manufacture shorting (MBB) switches at this time. Any switch you obtain from CIT will be a non-shorting (BBM) design, as these types of switches are held to be more useful in a majority of applications.
