Compatibility of VITA 57.1 FMC-HPC Mezzanine (UG537) with ZCU111 VITA 57.4 FMC+ HSPC Connector

------Question for HW-FMC-XM105-G Please Put your question below------

I would like to confirm the mechanical and electrical compatibility between the following:

Mezzanine card:

AMD/Xilinx FMC Debug Mezzanine Card

User Guide: UG537

Connector type: VITA 57.1 FMC-HPC

Carrier board:

ZCU111 RFSoC Evaluation Board

User Guide: UG1271

Connector type: VITA 57.4 FMC+ (HSPC)

I understand that VITA-57.4 (FMC+) is designed to be backward-compatible with VITA-57.1 FMC (LPC/HPC), because the first 400 pins of the FMC+ HSPC connector maintain the HPC pinout of the original FMC specification.

Before proceeding with my hardware setup, I would like the to confirm:

Questions:

  1. Can a VITA 57.1 FMC-HPC mezzanine card (UG537) be safely used on the ZCU111 FMC+ HSPC connector?

  2. Are there any limitations or constraints (e.g., VADJ voltage, unsupported GT lanes, unavailable HA/HB pins)?

Hello,

I am checking on this one. Will let you know when I have the answer.

  1. Can a VITA 57.1 FMC-HPC mezzanine card (UG537) be safely used on the ZCU111 FMC+ HSPC connector? Yes, as long as you do not exceed the electrical specifications of the connector, trace lengths on the board, etc… keep in mind what your power requirements will be and frequency as there could be zcu111 board limitations you cannot exceed, please refer to the zcu111 data sheets and user guides; also note you could have signal limitations simply due to connection losses and trace lengths pending your final settings.

  2. Are there any limitations or constraints (e.g., VADJ voltage, unsupported GT lanes, unavailable HA/HB pins)? Yes, not all possible pins in the FMC connections are necessarily routed on the zcu111 board, please refer to UG1271 for board schematic questions such as this; it will also depend on your final config as to which I/O and such you may be intending to use, so again refer back to the zcu111 board documentation.

hi Karl,

noted, thank you so much.
