Cross reference for a CTS 450T220R254C1D1 Potentiometer

I have a CTS Potentiometer that is no longer working that I cannot find a cross reference for. Any help is appreciated.

Hello William.Sherman,

Can you please verify the part number you provided is correct? According to the part number breakdown in the CTS 450 Series Datasheet (Found HERE) it doesn’t look like the “254” is a valid option for the resistance, I pasted a snip below.

Hey Mitch,

I am attaching pictures of the Potentiometer in Question. I am saying it is a CTS just because of the Label on the back of it.

Thanks for the Assistance!

Bill

This pot is really weird. It’s almost like it’s a mashup of two different models, the 450 and the 450G. It has the part number of the 450, but it has the resistance of the 450G.

Additionally, the wires are not soldered to traditional lugs that stick out the side, but are attached at the very bottom. I cannot find any other pot that matches how this one is built.

Is this on a guitar?

No. It is used on a 150W Microscope Light Source. To turn on the light and vary the intensity.

I am wondering if it was an OEM Build.

Hi William,

I’m looking for a similar item too! Can’t seems to find an equivalent one. Wondering if you had found any replacement?

The resistance Code 254 should be referring to 250 kOhm.

Hello john.lim and welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.

As others have stated above, unfortunately it appears that this may be an OEM part. I do not see that the 250k Ohm is available for the 450 series according to their Datasheet.

I could not find an exact replacement. I was able to find a 250Kohm potentiometer and then I was going to use a separate micro switch that I will mount for the On/Off Feature.
