Difference between Octi117500 and Octi117550

------Question for OCTI117500 Please Put your question below------

What is the difference between the Octis OCTI117500 and OCTI117550?

Thank you for posting on our TechForum.

The OCTI117550 has three separate glands.

OCTI117550 only has one gland.

Yes, but the SFP housing is also different. Why? Does the 117550 offer better performance for higher data rate SFPs?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi thomas1.wall,

Comparing the datasheets for the two, I’m pretty sure that @Nathan_Henneman is correct. The housings look the same. The only apparent difference is that the OCTI117500 only comes with the #8 cable gland whereas the OCTI117550 comes with the #6, #7, and #8 cable glands, so it offers more options for cable diameters.

See correction note below:

From the OCTI117500 datasheet:

From the OCTI117550 datasheet:

Correction: I see now what you mean about the “Holder” portion (item “6” in both images above) appearing different. There are a few notes that are different on the second page of the respective datasheets (differences highlighted):

From the OCTI117500 datasheet:

From the OCTI117550 datasheet:

These differences are subtle, and I’m not certain whether all of the differences are based on actual differences in properties or just variances in how they happen to document the information (say, from two different people entering the data). For instance, they list the material for the “Tightening cone” as “Nylon” in one and “PA” in the other, though those are synonomous terms.
