Hello DigiKey Community,
I would like to ask for some help regarding a short shipment for DigiKey Part#18156.
We ordered 162 sets of this product. Based on the product description, we understood that 1 set consists of 18 pcs:
12 × Screws
6 × Standoffs
However, when we received the shipment, there were only 9 bags, and each bag contained 18 pcs (12 Screws + 6 Standoffs).
Therefore, the total quantity physically received appears to be: 9 bags × 18 pcs = 162 pcs (9 sets)
While our order quantity was: 162 sets × 18 pcs = 2,916 pcs
This means that, based on our understanding, we may have received only 9 sets instead of 162 sets. We have already reported/claimed this issue via email to DigiKey, but unfortunately, we have not received any response yet.Could anyone please help clarify how DigiKey defines the “set” for Part #18156 and whether our understanding of the ordered quantity is correct? We would greatly appreciate any advice or assistance in understanding whether this is a short shipment, a packaging issue, or a misunderstanding of the ordering unit.
Thank you very much for your help.
The parts page looks pretty straightforward to me.
If I put 162 in the quantity box on the page and placed the order, I would expect to receive 162 bags (each bag containing 6 spacers and 12 screws), the order price would be $1,723.36USD.
If I put 9 in the quantity box I’d expect 9 bags and an order price of $118.98USD.
I’m not affiliated with DigiKey, I’m just a participant in the technical forum.
I suspect when a DigiKey employee responds they will tell you to contact their customer service/sales people. (the forum is mostly just for technical issues)
As mentioned in the other post on this issue, a quantity of 1 should consist of 12 screws and 6 spacers.
Confusion in regard to unit of sale does occur from time to time. The online returns portal is the fastest way to begin an order correction process. Email communications still work, however responses may take some time due to current workloads.
Thank you for your response. I followed the link you provided and submitted a claim under “Issue with an order you have received.” However, I have not received any response yet.
Could you please confirm whether I have submitted the claim through the correct process? Or, do we need to return the goods before the claim can be processed? Please kindly advise us on the correct claim/return procedure and let us know what steps we should take next.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
