We often receive questions regarding how a particular part will be shipped to you based on it’s packaging type. For example, part XC7A50T-1CPG236C indicates tray packaging in the product attributes (seen below).
This packaging type indicates the type of packaging we receive it in. Bulk, tube, and tape and reel are our other common packaging types, however this is not necessarily the packaging you will receive it in. Most of our products are purchased in large quantities which are then broken down and sold individually, so they are typically not shipped in the same packaging.
In the case of our example from above, we receive those parts in a tray with a quantity of 240. When we break it down, we typically will place the part(s) in a carrier tape or embedded in foam to be shipped to you. If you need the part(s) to be shipped in the tray you must enter this into the order notes and we will accommodate that request if we can.
Tape and reel parts less than full quantity will be received in strips, if you need the parts on a reel you will need to purchase a full manufacturer quantity or order a DigiReel™ where we place a smaller number of parts onto a new reel for you.
Tube parts less than full manufacturer quantity will be shipped in partial tubes, embedded in foam, or pillow packed in bags. If you need an amount less than manufacturer packaging shipped in an uncut manufacturer tube, please put that request in the order notes and we will accommodate the request if possible.
Bulk parts will be shipped in a resealable bag but this will not typically be the manufacturers bag. If you need them shipped in the manufacturer bag the only way to guarantee that is to order a standard manufacturer quantity and indicate in the order notes that you need it in the manufacturer packaging.
The standard manufacturer quantity we receive it in is typically listed on the price breakdown on our website (seen below) and indicated by a small box icon. If you come across a part where the manufacturer quantity is not listed, such as our example part number above, please reach out to sales@digikey.com and they can provide that information to you.
