Hi @maalikKyzer! I got in touch with the board house. They provided another updated document that shows the Df and Dr values. I’m going to edit my previous posts to show this file, but here it is:
Hi, I was wondering if you plan on manufacturing stencils along with the PCB in the near future. Would love to try the service but ordering a separate stencil from another company adds delays and sometimes complication. Is it something you are working on or do you plan on producing only PCBs?
I want to use the impedance calculator (Trace Impedance Calculator | DigiKey) to determine what my trace width should be, given that I’m using Digikey Red for my PCBs. For a microstrip trace type two parameters of interest are “trace thickness” and “height” - I’m presuming the latter is the height of the full PCB itself (or is it the layer?).
There are a few thickness values in this thread, but it isn’t clear to me which refer to layer thickness or trace thickness or pcb thickness, or something else entirely.
Hello,
check this link out DKRed | DigiKey for the different specifications for DK Red. On the board builder all of the attributes have a little “i” in a gray circle next to them. hover over the “i” and it will give you a description of what is needed. Thickness under the attributes is representing the board thickness.
Thanks for the response! In the calculator, I’m guessing the “height” parameter refers to the “thickness” parameter on the PCB builder, with the default being 1.5748 mm.
I’m guessing the “trace thickness” parameter refers to the “copper weight” parameter on the PCB builder, with the default being 1 oz.
Are these assumptions correct?
There’s also the dielectric constant - I’m not sure what that’s of (not copper I assume?) but other calculators seem to have a standard 4.3 for that value.
