Does SQ Series Cement-Housed High-Power Resistors need additional heat sink to use it upto rated power rating.

TE Connectivity’s documentation they list does not show that heatsinking would be needed.

Hi @gbrahmayya ,

Just keep in mind the derating curve per page 21/40 per datasheet.

  • Exceeding these ratings or not providing enough free space around the resistor would likely require a heat sink and/or a fan.

Thanks details explanation.
i am planning to use 27Ohm resistor PN “3-2176632-5”. which rated for 60W. its RCWV is ~40.
in my application, it’ll be used for 27W.
