I was told this unit may not need a feedback loop due to having a module on it that replicates that function. Can someone tell me if a loop is required in the Pinout Configuration for my STM32H7 microcontroller firmware design? I feel it needs one, but have advice saying it does not.
After looking through the datasheet and the drawing I am not seeing any additional module on this part. I would advise looking through the datasheet and drawing.
This part is an oscillator rather than just a crystal (it does contain a crystal internally). An oscillator has all of the drive circuitry integrated and will output a square wave at the specified frequency with no feedback required. Simply supply power, ground, and connect the output to the appropriate clock-in pin on your device.
The Tri-State/NC pin can optionally be used to enable or disable the output.
EDIT: It looks like this particular version (without βAβ suffix in part number) does not have the βTri-Stateβ option, so that pin is a no-connect.
Thank you for your response. I am building a piece of equipment, and am a complete novice. i was not sure about the pin settings for the Pinout Configuration, as they would be different. This really helps! This Forum is a great service for newbies like me to learn from the pros! Thanks again David_1528 & Keep Smiling!
