EMI Shielding Tape Continuous Roll Limitation

------Question for 1181 X 1/4" Please Put your question below------

In the product offering, it is mentioned that the product comes in 54’ sections. I read that increasing the quantity of the product upon purchasing leads to longer rolls instead of more rolls. For example, a quantity of 4 would yield a 216’ roll as opposed to four 54’ rolls. Can you please confirm this?

Furthermore, what is the limitation on how long a roll of this product can be delivered?

@sclark

For the 3M1181A-ND (1181 X 1/4") that we list these would come in rolls of 54’ and ordering say 2 would get you 2x54’ rolls not 1x108’ roll

Would you have a link to where you saw the length could increase with more ordered?

I came to that conclusion from what was mentioned in the link above which is found under the “See all questions and answers” on the 1181 product page.

If I understand correctly now, there is no way to order rolls longer than 54’ from Digikey?

@sclark

I see, thank you.

This is correct, in terms of something that’s a standard, off-the-shelf catalog product. Adhesive sheet materials of this sort are produced as substantially larger bulk rolls and cut down as needed from there, however the process is not so simple as cutting a piece of wire to length, as one may imagine. The referenced posting would apply to the latter sort of material, and I’ll look into pursuing correction.

That said, if one’s interested in substantial quantities of material for production use I’d suggest making inquiry with CustomCut.3MProducts@digikey.com. Many things become possible if one isn’t scared off by a minimum order quantity.
