Engineer Branded Desoldering Pump - Model SS-02 vs. SS-03

Hello,

I am looking to purchase the Engineer branded desoldering pump (solder sucker) from DigiKey (part number 1528-2156-ND), supplied by Adafruit Industries. On their product page for this item, it states (under the “Revision History” section) that “As of October 16, 2024 this is now the SS-03 model”, which replaces the long-standing SS-02 model.

Since this was a relatively recent change, I would like to know whether I will receive the new model (SS-03) if I purchase through DigiKey, or if you still only have the old model (SS-02) in stock. I have already contacted Adafruit to inquire about this, but they were not sure of the exact contents of DigiKey’s inventory.

Finally, if the new model is not yet in stock, do you have an estimated time frame for when it will be?

Thank you for the very quick reply. I contacted DigiKey sales through the number you provided, and I’m posting their response here in case anyone has the same question in the future.

The representative I spoke with told me that they didn’t see any specific references to the newer SS-03 model in their database yet, so the 358 items currently in stock (at the time of writing, Nov. 28, 2024) are most probably the older SS-02 model. Once these have been sold through, it is likely that the next shipment from the supplier will be of the new model.
