How can sequencing circuits be implemented, and where are they commonly used?

Sequencing circuits can be implemented using several approaches, including cascading voltage converters through their enable pins, utilizing a microcontroller, employing a small FPGA, or using a dedicated sequencer IC.

Power sequencers are commonly used in systems containing FPGAs, GPUs, CPUs, DSPs, and SoCs, where controlled power-up and power-down sequences are required. For applications requiring multiple power supply rails, the ADM6840 offers a simple sequencing and supervision solution that supports up to eight voltages without the need for software development or programming.
