Incorrect Multimeter Readings; How to Fix

When measuring voltage, you may notice the voltage reading is fluctuating drastically or incorrect when measuring a known voltage source, this is usually a sign of an internal fuse being blown within the multimeter. Take the fuse out and test it with a functioning continuity meter, and replace the fuse recommended by the owner’s manual.

When measuring current, you may notice the multimeter reading won’t have any fluctuation after being placed in the known series circuit being measured. Again, take the fuse out and test it with a functioning continuity meter, and replace the fuse recommended by the owner’s manual.

If replacing the open fuse does not fix the multimeter reading issue, you may want to look into purchasing a new Multimeter, click here.
