please suggest an alternative part number for 60-2-36 with same specs but a less expensive option or any insulation transformer paper with thickness of 11mils that would cover width of greater than 30mm .
Hello malavb,
I wasn’t able to find a similar tape with that exact thickness nor at 11mils thickness. Closest in stock cheaper options are in two part numbers I found such as 1067-8992-2-72-ND and 1067-8992-1.5-72-ND.
Check those out and see if they can work for you.
Hi malavb,
Just to clarify, the 3M 60-2-36 PTFE film tape “60” series with silicone adhesive is only about 3.9-mils thick, composed of an approximately 2-mil PTFE film backing and 1.9-mil thermosetting silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. Is that the thickness you need, or do you need something closer to 11-mils?
Assuming you need the thinner product similar to the 60-2-36 intended for coil insulation applications, here are some options:
92-2-36 “92” series polyimide tape can be used for coil wrapping applications, comes in the same 36 yard sized rolls and is somewhat lower priced. Notably, the minimum dielectric breakdown voltage is only 6000V vs. 8000V for the “60” series.
If you need less than 36 yards of insulating tape, the polyimide 1218-2-5 “1218” series might be an option. The “1218” series also has a minimum dielectric breakdown voltage of only 6000V. The per unit length cost is higher for the 1218-2-5, but they come on 5 yard rolls, so your total cost may be lower with this if you only need a shorter length.
