Is there a significant difference between such an external RF antenna and an internal PCB antenna?

Customer Inquiry: They plan to purchase an external NFC antenna. Is there a significant difference between such an external RF antenna and an internal PCB antenna?

If I only design the chip circuit and use an external antenna for RF transmission, is an IPX connector mandatory?

An IPX connector is just a type of RF connector that can be used for quick connection of an external antenna. Impedance matching still needs to be designed by yourself.

External Antenna:Suitable for scenarios with high requirements for communication distance and stability. If direct soldering is required, it is necessary to strictly control impedance matching, circuit length, and soldering processes, as well as reserve test points during the design phase.

Internal PCB Antenna:Suitable for scenarios sensitive to size and cost. Its performance needs to be optimized through simulation and strict RF layout design. If the communication distance is insufficient, you can consider increasing the antenna area or adopting a multi-layer PCB design.
