Engineer just dropped on my desk to install. question does this gateway have internal antenna or do i need to order antenna? using product with sensocon wireless sensor.

According to the datasheet, yes. Here is the description: "The LoRaWAN, 3G/4G and GPS antennas
are integrated within the enclosure. For remote applications
and extra flexibility it also supports optional external LoRaWAN
and 3G/4G Antennas. "
Our application the sensors are within 5 miles. Do think i will need the optional external antenna
That’s a little harder to determine as that highly depends on the gain of the antenna and design. The data for the LorA antenna is on page 2 and it seems like it would support a five-mile radius based on initial research. However, this is usually for sub-urban areas or open terrain, typically. LoRa usually has a larger span in general. You can try utilizing it for that range, but if it’s more for an urban area, you may need a higher gain antenna to reach that range. Line of sight is usually more important for LoRa WAN too.
