If you’re working with the L-Com AOC-DPMDP8K-010 (DigiKey part number: 5073-AOC-DPMDP8K-010-ND), here’s an important detail:
The cable is a DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort, but when you receive it, the Mini DisplayPort end is covered by a DisplayPort adapter. This can make it look like both ends are full-size DisplayPort at first glance.
To access the Mini DisplayPort connector, you’ll need to:
-
Remove the two tiny screws on the sides of the adapter.
-
Carefully take off the DisplayPort shell to reveal the Mini DisplayPort underneath.
-
Keep the screws in a small bag or container if you plan to reuse the adapter later. These screws are very small and easy to lose.
This info comes directly from L-Com after follow-up, and DigiKey’s description and datasheet are accurate—they’re just showing the adapter as installed.
Hope this saves someone else a bit of confusion!
