LED FAQs: What Does "Current - Test" Mean?

What does “Current - Test” mean regarding LEDs?

This is taken from a “test” current, typically listed on the product datasheets. This test current serves as a reference point for other technical information provided such as luminous intensity,
dominant wavelength, and forward voltage. Drive currents may be chosen at any current up to the maximum recommended current for the specific LED light source used. Driving LED light sources above the maximum recommended currents may result in lower life and in severe cases, catastrophic failure.
