Littelfuse makes a few power distribution modules for automotive purposes. The datasheet for PDM71001ZXM (DigiKey part number F9462-ND) has some terminology for styles that might not make immediate sense without context from other documentation sources. A customer recently asked what Littelfuse meant by “Assure Latch” and “Retention Grid.”
Assure Latch
If you search for information on Littelfuse, there is an explanation found on this webpage. They say in the “Features” section the following: “Tool-style AssureLatch™ positive-sealing latches keep the cover securely in place and require a tool, such as a flathead screwdriver, to open.”
Retention Grid
The term “retention grid” usually refers to a specially designed grid inside PDMs that accompany specific automotive relays. This documentation is briefly mentioned here. This resource just has a simple explanation that they have “retention for relays.” I used to work in the automotive industry briefly. All it means is that certain automotive relays can be directly inserted into the modules/units without having to buy some kind of adapter for plugging them in.
