I find it mind boggling that info how to solder the center pin of MCX Molex 0734153640 to center conductor of RG179 is so scarce. It seems that soldering iron tip size, tip temp and typa solder used are issues
Also, how to solder through that small “hole” in the back of 0734153640
I’m hoping (waiting?) for a miracle to happen … TODAY still
I don’t know how much it will help but I’ve found a few videos where they have an iron installed in a press type machine and a jig. Kindly see below:
From the 0734153030 drawing document, it shows a document number for the assembly instructions (AS-89675-460) which, presumably, would give proper dimensions and instructions for preparing the cable for insertion and soldering.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to find Molex Assembly Instructions document number AS-89675-460.
Hi there (Kristoff)
I assume the use of this combination (Molex PN 0734153640 connected to RG179) is very limited (but, then, why investing in making perhaps 1,000s of this connector?). It is a challenge get a marriage for these two parts concluded - looking at the video I have to assume it shows somebody somewhere figured out the how-to. And, it would be nice to know the who, why, how and when …
I’m a good boy and I hope Santa would not pass me. But, I hope for June’s Santa … not the xmas version - THAT will be too late.
