Molex is a massive supplier of connectors and interconnect products, including a dizzying variety of rectangular headers and connectors. We periodically get questions concerning the MSL values for these Molex connectors, as Molex only ever lists a connector as Moisture Sensitive rather than providing an MSL value. Is this an error?
As addressed in our broader Molex FAQ, connectors are not actually covered by the applicable industry standards that cover and govern Moisture Sensitivity Level ratings. As such, MSL for this type of product is ‘N/A’, since they’re not covered by the standard and cannot necessarily be treated the same way. It is recommended to check the product documentation for your specific parts to determine best handling procedures for Molex connectors.
