Need a low-friction shrink tubing

I have been searching for a shrink tubing that I can use to cover a PCB that needs to be put in a metal tube. The PCB is already going to be coated in insulating silicone, the shrink wrap only serves the purpose of creating a glossy outer lining to make it possible to uninstall and reinstall it from the metal tube.

It’s very similar to the stuff they use to pack batteries together with Li-Ion rechargeables. That green or blue shrink wrap with a bit of a glossy look? DigiKey doesn’t really have search terms or functions that match what I’m looking for so I don’t know what to do. When I search for battery wrap online, I get 3M FP-301 as a suggestion, and it’s nice and thin but it looks rubbery not glossy, so I don’t want to order any until I know it actually will serve the purpose of reducing friction. Can anyone help me out?

Hello,
Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum. I searched our system and wasn’t able to find the battery pack style heat shrink you mention. Maybe an option like this Shrinkflex Series would work for you. It seems like PVC material is what you’re looking for here. What is the supplied and recovered diameter you need, does the color matter ?

I am thinking supplied 2” and recovered 1” should be right. Slightly smaller would be ok too. Color doesn’t matter but if I have a choice blue would be ideal. I did look at that PVC series but again, the photos look grippy. I can’t download the datasheets for those, my company computer is flagging it as unsecure. Can you tell me what the wall thickness is on that series? They look kind of thick in the photos, they should be thin-walled for my purposes.

Did you search for 3M FP-301? It isn’t specifically flagged as battery pack heat shrink. It just showed up in some of my Google searches.

Battery pack shrink wrap is typically made with PVC. We just don’t have anything in the size you’re looking for or made for that type of application.
