Need assistance for Electrolytic to Solid Polymer Cap conversion

Hi, i am searching for some assistance on a project i am working. The goal is to replace some discontinued Nichicon PR series capacitors that go onto an automobile engine control module. My first attempt was close but did not do the trick. Relatively new at picking capacitors. Can anyone advise on a suitable solid polymer model? Thank you!

If you are wanting to stick with Nichicon, we do have the options linked HERE that are currently active, normally stocking, and do have the AEC-Q200 rating.

Everything on the link Nick provided are aluminum polymer capacitors.

Hey thanks for the response! I decided to choose a Nichicon electrolytic series UV(R). They appear to have nearly the same properties. Still opem minded to finding a Solid in the future if its possible, because it would be a cool upgrade. But i am settled for now on these electrolytics. Thanks

I came across a document from Nichicon comparing different aluminum electrolytic capacitor technologies which you might find interesting.

In particular, although solid conductive polymer-aluminum capacitors have a number of compelling characteristics, including lower ESR at high frequencies, high ripple current capability, and long life, they have inconsistent self-healing and low resistance to humidity, which makes them more susceptible to short-circuiting. That susceptibility to shorting means that conductive polymer-aluminum caps are not suitable for automotive applications.

However, hybrid polymer-aluminum caps solve the self-healing problem by including a liquid electrolyte, which allows for self-healing, thus solving the shorting issue of standard conductive polymer-aluminum caps, while still retaining many of the advantages of them.
