NXP PN512 NFC Frontend Chip Version

The PN512 NFC frontend chip from NXP can support four different operating modes, as detailed below.

• Reader/Writer mode supporting ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE and FeliCa scheme
• Reader/Writer mode supporting ISO/IEC 14443B
• Card Operation mode supporting ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE and FeliCa scheme
• NFCIP-1 mode

The PN512 is available in three versions:

#1 : PN5120A0HN1/C1 and PN5120A0HN/C1, named as version 1.0

#2 : PN5120A0HN1/C2, PN5120A0HN/C2 and PN5120A0ET/C2, named as version 2.0

#3 : PN512AA0HN1/C2 and PN512AA0HN1/C2BI, named as the industrial version with AEC-Q100 qualification.

The industrial version has only differences within the outlined characteristics and limitations.

The differences between version 1.0 to version 2.0 are summarized in Section 20 of the datasheet, Here.

The PNEV512B is the demo board which embeds the contactless communication transceiver IC PN512.
