------Question for Q8F5CXXHG24E Please Put your question below------
Hello, I was wondering if there is info on APEM panel-mount LED operating temperature. I previously ordered Q8F3BXXG24E and it ran too hot - looking for a similar 24V panel-mount LED (not necessarily from APEM) with <43C steady state temp in stagnant air. thanks!
Hello, Armacive. Welcome to TechForum!
I am very sorry, we don’t really have any way of checking for or searching by operating temperature of our panel indicators at this time. That is in part dependent on the end user’s application, not something the manufacturer can control and specify for.
Hello @armacive,
Internally, we expect this pilot lamp to have a series current limiting resistor. With 24 VDC and 20 mA, the resistor dissipates about 0.4 W.
The DigiKey alternatives show similar characteristics for devices in this size and configuration. Stated another way, the alternatives will have the same thermal properties.
Recommendations:
-
Shift to a lower voltage and add an external resistor. The heat will still be in your enclosure, but it will be dispersed.
-
Add a switching regulator or LED driver to your PCB.
-
Circulate the air in the enclosure. There are likely other hot components.
-
Accept the elevated temperature.
Best wishes,
APDahlen
