Power line filter substitution

I am searching for an equivalent power line filter to the Enphase IQ-LCFE-200-1P 200A single phase Line Communication filter for a residential electrical service application. Will the DigiKey RSEN-2200-ND filter serve the purpose for adequately filtering out noise?

Hello Again Kahnwin,
I asked our team to look at your question.
We will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience.

Thank you! I look forward to the response.

The two products mentioned are similar in function and basic specifications, but differ substantially in their form. The referenced product has its own enclosure and is marketed by the supplier for a particular use, whereas the proposed alternative does not.

It would be up to you (or your service provider) to determine whether the alternative product is suitable for the purposes intended, and to provide for installation in an appropriate manner.

Thank you for your reply. To clarify, I am only interested in knowing if the functionality is the same or similar. I am looking for a generic line filter that will eliminate any disruptive noise that would have adverse affects on my power line communication domains. Is the RSEN-2200-ND filter a good choice? If so, it will be utilized on my 200A service and installed in an dedicated enclosure. If there is a better filter option, can you recommend one? Thank you!

As @rick_1976 pointed out, they are similar in function and basic specifications. Looking through our offerings, I don’t see anything that would seem to be a better choice.

However, because they are for different applications (general noise filtering vs. filtering specifically for PLC applications) and they do not specify their characteristics in the same way, there is no way to know whether it would actually be suitable for your application.

For instance, the IQ-LCFE-200-1P only specifies “isolation” at 110kHz, whereas the RSEN-2200 refers to broadband attenuation and provides a graph of performance over frequency range. We don’t know the nature of the curve for the IQ-LCFE-200-1P or how imortant that would be for PLC applications.

Hello kahnwin,

Looking at the Datasheet for the RSEN-2200-ND, it does provide noise attenuation, and is designed for applications for Medical, Industrial, Communication, and Broadcasting. This will be able to handle the 200A requirements, but is rated for 250VAC, and the IQ-LCFE-200-1P was rated for 300V.

I do not see a higher rating, or better option, available on our site.

Please check the datasheet to help verify compatibility to your application.

That makes sense. I understand that there is limited specifications shown for the IQ-LCFE-200-1P making it difficult to compare it with the RSEN-2200. Thank you for pointing out the difference in voltage ratings and the frequency/attenuation graph. The RSEN-2200 filter appears to have about the same attenuation at 110Khz as the IQ-LCFE-200-1P and it should work on a 240VAC line. Your feedback and information will help me quite a bit with deciding whether the RSEN-2200 will work for my application. Thank you very much.
