Raspberry Pi are the creators of the eponymous Raspberry Pi SBC (single-board computer) and much of its surrounding ecosystem. The Raspberry Pi 5 SC1113 board is one of the newer entries in the series, popular for a huge array of different projects. We’ve had a number of requests for power options for the Pi 5, including higher current options than are often typical while still being powered from PC/laptop rather than from the wall. Are any such high-power cables available?
A good option for more demanding power applications, if you don’t want to use any of the Pi’s external dedicated power supplies and still power it from the PC, is 5501, which can supply 3A via the Pi 5’s barrel power connection. USB to USB cannot go any higher than this in most cases, and current requirements beyond 3A should really be handled via something other than a PC USB port if at all possible.
