Riedon/Bourns, Current Shunt Resistor RSC-1200-50: Meaning of the '-NB' Suffix?

Riedon, by Bourns is a division of Bourns that manufactures old Riedon products, such as their RSC-1200-50 current shunt resistor. We’ve had a few questions recently about this product and the similar RSC-1200-50-NB product that Riedon+Bourns sells. What does this suffix entail, and can non-NB be substituted for -NB?

In this case, the “-NB” means No Backplate, which means exactly what it says - the product is supplied without the backplate normally bundled with it. As such, RSC-1200-50 can be substituted for RSC-1200-50-NB (though you’ll end up with an extra backplate), but RSC-1200-50-NB wouldn’t work if you’re looking specifically for RSC-1200-50, with its backplate.
