I have been asked to repair an Ethernet cable. It is not possible to replace this cable, I have to put a plug on the end of it. My problem is that the cable is one of those cheap very thin wired cables. The RJ45 plugs I have will not work as the wires are too thin. There must be a RJ45 plug that is made for this kind of cable. Can someone help me find this device?
This cable came with a surveillance camera system. It does not appear to even be twisted pair wiring, It’s very thin wire and, as I said, I simply cannot replace this cable.
The best solution would be to replace the cable, but if you are not able to do that, I would recommend trying the connectors that are DigiKey part number 277-2713-ND (see below). These are for 27AWG which should work just fine for the thinner wires even if they are stranded.
