RSBS2332A2V2C24SM09: Obsolete Starter Cross

A customer wanted to find a cross for an old Carlo Gavazzi starter. They said I could post the picture of the original part below.

This is a little blurry, but you can make out the important details.

Datasheet Order Code

I did manage to find a datasheet from the series that does contain an ordering code explanation. Page 2 shows the following table:

Here is what you can tell about this obsolete part:

  • It is a soft starter with a compressor that operates on a single phase 230VAC input with a maximum rating of 32A.
  • The control voltage is also 230VAC.
  • It has “options” (not explained in the table). It has an auxiliary output and has no “generation” info.
  • It has a start capacitor rated from 200-240uF.
  • SM09 must be the “control” algorithm for high pressure starts or something similar to that. I could not find original documentation, but I don’t think it would be entirely critical. Take my suggestion with a grain of salt due to this unknown.

Cross Reference Suggestion

I would take a look at RSBS2332A2V23C24HP (1864-RSBS2332A2V23C24HP-ND) as a potential replacement. The only major differences are this is considered “generation 3” and the control algorithm for high pressure starts is different. I’d probably guess this is most likely considered an “upgrade” for all intents and purposes. Follow the caution statements for the high pressure starting according to the datasheet.
