Spread I2C signal over 2m thanks to a PCA9615 module

Hello,

I would like to convey an I²C signal resulting from a distance sensor to a PC which has I²C pins over 2 meters. I read about the PCA9615 on this site :
Taking The Leap Off Board: An Introduction To I2C Over Long Wires | Hackaday
Apparently it’s a differential bus buffer, I didn’t understand quite the differential aspect yet but I’m more interested in the feasibility first. I’m not sure I understood because the datasheet is talking about codes. Anyway I did a scheme of how I think I should use it.

I’m assuming it’s only in the second case where I connect directly the RJ45 cable to my PC that I will need specific codes, am I right ?

Hi, you did not mention the programming code. My best regards to you.
